How to measure for gravel

  1. Measure the length and width of your area in feet.
  2. Multiply them for square feet (or just enter length and width above).
  3. Choose a depth — we default to 2 inches for gravel.
  4. Read your total in cubic yards, or the number of bags.

Frequently asked questions

How thick should a paver base be?

Plan 4–6 inches of compacted crushed stone for patios and walkways, more (6–8+ inches) for driveways. Add a sand setting layer on top.

Should I order extra for compaction?

Yes — crushed base compacts roughly 20–30%, so order extra so you hit your finished depth after tamping.
